Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke with Brian Kilmeade about the hope that reimposing sanctions against Iran will push them to change their behavior and what they must do to be welcomed back into the community of nations. Secretary Pompeo discussed the latest on the investigation into the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and whether America will reevaluate our relationship with Saudi Arabia. When asked about China’s President Xi Jinping reportedly putting his military advisers overseeing operations in the South China Sea on alert last week, Secretary Pompeo said we are in competition with China and have recently indicted several China nationals on intellectual property theft. He added, stealing intellectual property is not the behavior of a world Super Power. Listen here: BRIAN KILMEADE, FOX ANCHOR: Mr. Secretary welcome to the Brian Kilmeade Show. MIKE POMPEO, U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE: Good morning Brian how are you today? KILMEADE: Man, you’re resume is getting better and better, this is obviously with the most challenging job. Today is an important day in U.S., Iranian relations, tell us why. POMPEO: So, we are not just a handful of days from all of the sanctions that the previous administration had relieved against Iran, snapping back, coming back into effect and it’s having a real impact on the Iranian leadership. This is important, the Iranians are, just yesterday or the day before Denmark announced that Iran had plotted an assassination attack in their country, same as Lapland and France and Albania, they’re the worlds largest state sponsor of terror and they are squandering the peoples money, the Iranian people’s money on these silly malign activities and our effort is to get them to change that behavior. KILMEADE: Well I mean let’s talk about what you just glazed over, an assassination attempt inside Denmark and now the Dan’s are asking for the European Union to take action, could you tell us more about this? POMPEO: So that’s right, so an Iranian intelligence officer was in Denmark seeing pew, conducting assassination attempts inside of Europe on the EU soil. This is the third effort of just recent times, there’s a long history of this. You know, we talk about the assassinations around the – Iranians are the leading actor convecting these assassination attempts in Europe and that kind of behavior needs to stop and we have offered our support and effort to help the Europeans in preventing these kinds of assassination attempts from taking place. KILMEADE: So back to what lead to the JCPOA, which is an agreement the President promised to rip up, that you didn’t like when you were a congressman and now it’s gone.
